The Kove MX250 Gen 2 stands as a prime example of a small-bore, moto-leisure four-stroke that excels in blending affordability with performance, illustrating that fun on the track doesn’t have to break the bank.

Its MSRP, notably low for a 250F motocross bike and a rarity in the past two decades, might suggest a compromise in features or quality, yet Kove defies these expectations.

The bike showcases its quality with well-fitted, high-grade plastic bodywork. Additionally, its rider cockpit is designed to be flat and narrow, offering a seamless experience without any protruding elements on the shrouds or side panels to hinder the rider’s movement.

The Kove MX250 Gen 2, weighing in at 237lbs dry, competes closely with major brands in its category. This weight advantage is notable on the track for agility and ease of handling post-ride. Its suspension is commendably balanced and fully customizable.

Test sessions in Utah showed that both larger and smaller riders could easily adjust the bike to their preferences using simple tweaks. The MX250’s 37.5hp rear-wheel output ensures robust performance suitable for most riders.

Its capabilities shine on the track, and the 6-speed transmission adds to its off-road fun and versatility, distinguishing it from the common 5-speed 250Fs.

The 249cc DOHC, EFI engine of the Kove MX250 Gen 2, a product of collaboration between Kove and Zongshen, stands out for its unique design and easy start-up, hot or cold, via electric start.

While it may look similar to other engines, Kove’s input is significant, including a custom-designed crankshaft, billet connecting rod, lighter flywheel, and stator. The improved cylinder head, piston, and camshafts raise the compression ratio to 14:1.

Additionally, the enhanced clutch features more plates and superior materials, and the slimmer engine cases offer better control and foot access. This engine is distinctly different from other Zongshen NC250/300 motors.

The Kove MX250’s centerpiece is its robust 37.5hp DOHC engine. Boasting features like Electric Start, Fuel Injection, and a 6-Speed Transmission, it offers superb performance.

This advanced engine, offering efficiency and versatility, comes at an unexpectedly affordable price, marking a notable shift in the market not seen for years.

Kove’s meticulous engineering shines in the MX250’s distinctive design. Its appearance sets it apart in the market, but it’s not just about looks. The bike features narrow shrouds that prevent interference with boots or knee braces, a seat with ideal firmness, a flat profile for better grip, and slim side panels.

The rear fender is thoughtfully designed with integrated grips, simplifying the task of lifting the bike onto a stand.

The MX250 impresses with its adaptability for a diverse range of riders. During testing, it showed excellent flexibility in adjustments, catering to riders of various heights and weights.

Adjusting the MX250 is straightforward, with simple clicker changes, sag adjustments, and control movements, making it a versatile choice for different rider preferences.
